Recommended settings and shutdown procedure for Mutoh printers over the Christmas break.

Please take the time to read through the following. To help ensure your printer is good to go when your orders start coming in next year, follow each step carefully.

All printers

  1. Print a nozzle check, then take a picture of it with your phone. Zoom in and take pictures of each section of the nozzle check.

  2. Perform the usual maintenance as described in your manual. Take extra care to remove as much ink around the caps and print heads as possible.

  3. Empty the waste bottle.

  4. Check that all inks in the machine are at least ¾ full.

  5. Remove any media in the printer. If your printer has pitch rollers, make sure they are down even though you do not have media in the printer.

Eco-solvent and Water-based printers without white.

Leave the printer on all the time but do the following:

  1. Check that the tube to the waste bottle is clear from blockage. You should be able to see through the tube. If not, pour maintenance fluid over the wiper and massage the waste tube to clean it.

  2. Put the printer into Sleep Mode rather than turning it off.

Eco-solvent and MP ink printers with White ink.

When using white ink, make sure the power is always turned on. When not using the printer, leave the power on and put the printer into Sleep Mode. If you do not put the printer into Sleep Mode, ink in its interior could settle out and/or coagulate, causing poor image quality or printer failure.

  1. Agitate the white ink prior to putting the printer to sleep.

  2. White ink must be agitated a least once a week.

  3. If you are unable to agitate the ink once a week, then you will need to perform a Longstore. Please read your manual and order flush cartridges as soon as possible.

  4. If not longstoring the printer, put it to sleep. Wake it up once a week to do a nozzle check and agitate the ink.

UV Printers.

When not using the printer, leave the power on and put the printer into Sleep Mode. In Sleep Mode, the printer will periodically circulate the ink in its interior and carry out head cleaning automatically. If you turn the printer off, ink in its interior could settle out and/or coagulate, causing poor image quality or printer failure.

  1. If it has been more than 11 months since your last service schedule a service before the break, if only to have the technician check the condition of the printer.

  2. Make sure that Ink Maintenance / White Maintenance is set to Normal.

  3. Agitate the inks prior to putting the printer to sleep.

  4. The inks must be agitated a least once a week.

  5. If you are unable to agitate the ink once a week, then you will need to perform an ink Discharge. You can leave your printer discharged for a maximum of 1 month. Please refer to the operation manual on how to perform the Ink Discharge.

  6. If not discharging the printer, put it to sleep. Wake it up once a week to do a nozzle check and agitate the ink.

  7. If you need to leave your printer unattended for more than one month, then please arrange for an authorised Mutoh technician to perform a Longstore on your printer.
